This mattress is wonderful - firm and you can feel the quality at every inch. the cover is nicely removable. The "pebbles" are firm. I tried to breath through it as you are supposed to be able to, and amazingly I could. That is primarily why I purchased this mattress - for the SIDS / breathing advantage.But I live in NYC and there's a bed bug scare all over, and my building advocated bed bug encasements for all mattresses. Do realize that if you want to use any kind of protective cover - including a basic waterproof pad that many, many people use on crib mattresses, that this gets in the way of the breathability. Before you spend this extra money, think about whether you are sure you won't want to use a waterproof pad or an insect/bug encasement. If you don't need those things or don't care about the breathability, great!Overall, I probably would not have bought this mattress if I had realized that I'd be covering it. As I debated the price, I justified it by saying "It's for breathing safety - can't put a dollar price on that."I do still love this mattress. I just wouldn't have justified the price.

I bought this mattress for my daughter in 2011 and I am very satisfied with it. She sleeps great. We decided to buy one for our second daughter too.

We bought this mattress for our newborn paired with the Kalon Studios Caravan crib (their recommended mattress). It fits the crib perfectly and I love the quality of the mattress, it's top notch.The best part about it is the breathability and the firmness. When I pick my daughter up, she is never sweating. We went on vacation and had to use another crib with another mattress and I noticed right away that putting her down on a mattress that has plastic integrated for waterproofing made her very hot during the night.The mattress is also dense enough that it seems to suck up the noise, we can't hear her tossing and kicking around unlike mattresses with a plastic cover. She has always genuinely seemed to love it!I would not recommend the Nook sheets, they are clunky and don't fit as tight as the Aden and Anais muslin sheets, in my opinion.
