I'm not sure why Amazon's description of this item doesn't include the best thing about this mat: it's completely non-toxic. Nook's website, and virtually every other distributor that sells this great product have a much better description. Since a baby is (hopefully) going to be on the mat for hours a day, and will definitely be breathing whatever chemicals are being emitted and sucking on whatever materials the mat is made out of, I want to be sure it's safe. Nook seems to have similar values, as all their products are made with very safe materials.

I absolutely LOVE this playmat for my baby. I have been laying her down on it since she was a few days old. I love that it is organic- and it's so soft and plush. Not an eye-sore like so many other playmats out there. She loves tummy time on it, too. When she is older it will be a great mat for a cozy corner with pillows!

I love this playmat! It is so thick and squishy. The fabric is somewhat water repellant; spit up and drool wipe right up. It folds up to 1/4 size for transport. I have washed it twice, and it did fine. However, there are weird little plastic threads (the filler for the mat) that will try to poke out of the holes in the fabric on the edging after washing...they are kind of sharp and pokey. But they seem to settle back down after a few days, and only a few of them came out after each washing. I guess I'm saying you might not want to wash this thing all the time.
