We are using cloth diapers for the first time, and wanted a "system" that would grow with our baby. This system is considered an all-in-one (AIO), one-size (OS) system, which means, you won't have to continue to buy additional sizes of diapers/covers as your baby grows. We researched all of the new types of cloth diapers and programs, and chose to go with portions of Flip system. The Flip cover is wonderful; works very well at keeping leaks/blow-outs in, and easily adjusts to even our newborn. We are new to the cloth diaper scene, and would highly recommend this system, or this cover to others interested in going this route. We are not using the cloth inserts, though it's not because there is anything wrong with the cloth inserts. Below is some additional information you might find helpful. For the Flip system, the shell, or cover, is a PUL material that has multiple snaps to adjust both in length of the baby's abdomen, but also with the width of your child's waist. They have made velcro versions in the past, but I would recommend snaps over velcro, as the velcro loses it's "stick" after multiple washes. You're supposed to use this cover with the cloth inserts, which are elongated, narrow, multilayer "diapers." These insert into a small pocket in the front of the cover, securing the cloth in place. The cloth insert can be removed and laundered, and the cover can be reused multiple times (wiped clean if there was a wet leak) before having to be washed. You should not put the diaper cover in the dryer, as it will reduce the water-repellent nature of the PUL.We, however, chose to go with traditional diapers; the rectangular versions that are thinner on the outer two thirds and thicker in the center these are called pre-folds, and ours are 4 layers on each side, and 8 layers thick in the center). We went with the largest size (usually a premium, or toddler size) of cloth pre-fold diaper, and have found that the Flip covers fit over these just perfectly. We use a Snappi to hold the diaper securely around our daughter's waist, and then use the PUL cover as a water-repellent diaper cover. We specifically wanted to avoid the pocket diapers that have the cloth lining (a true pocket diaper), as we felt it was silly to have to wash the whole thing each time she had either a wet or a dirty diaper. By just using the PUL covers, we just replace the diaper, and reuse the cover as long as hygiene permits. If you're boggled by the price, you can find alternatives, but make sure that they are just the PUL. There are tons of other lines that have the PUL outside, and then a fleece or other material lining the inside (the side that actually touches the baby's skin). The company Weegro also makes a PUL cover that is adjustable, and we've found that it tends to be even larger, and more generously sized than the Flip. HappyFlute and Mommystouch are other PUL covers that have snaps that adjust, though, the Mommystouch tends to run a little smaller than Flip.By all means, feel free to contact me if you have questions; we're enjoying being new parents, and we're loving the cloth diaper system so far. Good luck, and happy life for you and your baby!

The diaper is very water repellant, even after a handful of washes. You can pour water into this diaper and nothing will leak through to the outside. The pockets for the insert are short, meaning they do not cover the entire diaper and you might be able to get away with just changing the insert and not the whole diaper.Compared to the Apple Cheeks and BabeeGreens inserts, these better wick away moisture. They also seem to be nearly as absorbent as BabeeGreens (hemp & cotton) but, definitely outperform Apple Cheeks. The legs are elastic and there are adjustable snaps to make the diaper smaller from front to back as well as around the middle.Tag:Wash hot, LINE DRY (this should not take very long because they are so thin & moisture repellantOuter 100% laminated polyesterTabs 95% polyester, 5% spandexMade in USA

We used these shells with Flip inserts for an entire week....with issues. Check out this post to see how they compared to the Grovia diapers after week long trials of both brands: http://millionsoffingerprints.blogspot.com/2013/07/cloth-diapers-grovia-vs-flip-covers.html
